Rohaya is a seasoned environmental professional with over 30 years of experience in the field. She started her career as a public servant and regulator with Ministry of the Environment and the National Environment Agency of Singapore. During her time in the public sector, she has worked on national issues, such as the development of environmental protection and management policies and frameworks and collaborated with international and regional counterparts on issues related to multilateral environmental agreements, transboundary haze pollution and ASEAN environmental networks. Notably, she played a key role in the development of the carbon tax framework for Singapore.
In 2021, Rohaya left the public sector to join the Mandai Wildlife Group as the Vice President of Sustainable Solutions. In her current role, she is responsible for overseeing the organisation’s sustainability initiatives and ensuring that they align with best practices in the industry, to bring Mandai towards its carbon neutrality pledge and net zero ambition. Over the course of her career, Rohaya has developed expertise in pollution control, environmental monitoring, climate change, and sustainability. She is particularly passionate about climate change issues and has served as a climate change negotiator, as part of the Singapore delegation to UNFCCC COP meetings from 2016 to 2019.
